Norristown Area High School athletic field deal approved (video)

&Quot; Economic times may be tough, but there are some things we just really can't do without as the future of our children is at stake. This stadium is one of those things. It's just really, really, crucial. If the district ends up in a financial bind down the road, we'll just have to sacrifice some of the fluff. We'll start, of course, by firing the librarians! " A $6 million plus project to be funded by $1.2 million in Bond Funds; unrestricted surplus (leftover) funds related to the expansion of East Norriton Middle School with the $4.8 million plus balance to be funded by increased Property Taxes. NASD was ready to invoke permanent mil increases for a "project" and then use that as a windfall of future funding/spending. Does everyone recall that NASD brought forward countless paid "foreign" witnesses on this subject? Their Attorney even insisted that 3 years of West Norriton Township Newsletters were read into record even as WNT Solicitor Kerns was willing to accept all that as an "Exhibit." NASD refused to allow any witness to testify about past and projected attendance. NASD so "stirred" the community as to posture neighbors against neighbors, even convincing a middle school parent that her daughter could possibly get a college scholarship that would feature her skills as a PIAA Field Hockey or Lacrosse Player, but only if the stadium was built. There is a guy that brings decades of experience in many facets. He does his homework and has positively influenced the Community for over 25 years. Somebody said to me the other day that he is like Hamilton, Lincoln and Reagan (plus some others)blended and adapted into our age. It is really a shame that TTH supports the elements that dispise him for his intellect and experience. Somebody showed me a copy of his Professional resume' and it was absolutely incredible. The zoning hearings were not brought about by Cubberly. They were brought about by NASD. NASD is responsible for the taxpayers footing the double sided bill for those hearings. At least Cubberly's group negotiated some good stopgaps for the taxpayers to keep the Stadium project from turning into the Taj Mahal.

DUIs in limelight after celebrity Ryan Dunn's death | Norristown ...

This week, just after it was released that 'Jackass' star Ryan Dunn's fatal car accident involved alcohol, the Norristown Times Herald reported that local police have expressed approval that Apple decided to pull cell phone applications that warn drivers of DUI checkpoints.

Apple's decision to pull the DUI checkpoint warning applications came after four United States senators pushed the technology giant to put a stop to the applications, which they said hindered law enforcement's ability to do their jobs.

"I think these apps may be facilitating or enabling somebody to drink and drive, and the bottom line is driving under the influence is harmful to public safety," the Conshohocken Chief of Police told the Times Herald. "I believe [Apple] was wise to pull the application."

As of now, Google has not pulled its applications for DUI checkpoint-related applications. Google provides applications for phones that use Android software. General DUI checkpoint information is also made available to the public, but not with specific locations as to where and when the checkpoints will be set up.

Yesterday, it was revealed that Jackass star and Pennsylvania native Ryan Dunn had a blood-alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit when he crashed his car, killing himself and a passenger. Apparently, Dunn could have been traveling at speeds of up to 130 mph when the crash happened on the Route 322 bypass, close to the Pottstown Pike exit.

Of course, death is the worst possible outcome of driving drunk. Nonetheless, punishments under the law for driving under the influence in Pennsylvania are also serious and can greatly impact a person's life. People who are convicted of drunk driving could not only lose their driving privileges, but jail time is also possible.

If you have been charged with a DUI in Pennsylvania, you should contact someone with experience for advice, and you should act quickly.
