The Loughton and Epping Forest Amateur Radio Society will be activating GB2NWA from North Weald Airfield this coming weekend June 25/26 for the 2nd 2011 International Museums Weekend.

As far as operating is concerned, we always aim to work as many UK and local European stations as possible during this type of event, so we hope to be QRV on 40m/80m SSB, but depending on prevailing conditions, we may be forced to move to the higher bands.

There is a single public point of access to North Weald Airfield, this is along Merlin Way. Merlin Way is reached from the M11, via the A414 or from Epping, via North Weald Village / Church Lane.

Satnav owners can use the postcode CM16 6AA.

Enter the airfield and follow the perimeter track to the left of the tower skirting past the area where the Saturday market is usually held. When you reach it, cross the end of the runway, but take care to stop if the light is red. Continue following the perimeter track until you reach a manned barrier. Inform the stewards at the barrier / in the caravan that you are “exhibitors” with the “radio club” they should let you through free of charge. Continue to follow the peri-track until you reach the staging area near The Squadron Flying Club.

Looking forward to seeing or working you on Sunday...
