The VerTerra and Eco-gecko place settings are designed for event planners and caterers who wish to weave a distinct sustainability message into their services. Most other bio-based and sustainable dinnerware is made from a combination of sugarcane fiber (bagasse), reed, bamboo, tree or wheat pulp. While these materials are environmentally friendly, the resulting on-table image can be somewhat utilitarian. In contrast, every piece of VerTerra dinnerware is a work of art. "We wanted to accentuate the beautiful, natural setting of the venue with an environmentally sustainable dining experience. Everything - from our choice of ingredients and menu, to the individual place settings - was conceived with that in mind. Several guests complimented us on the use of the VerTerra square plates. After the service, we had only compostable and recyclable waste to manage - and no garbage bags full of plastic knives and forks to dispose of.
