Prophecies About Jesus
The Greatest Prophecy in the Bible
, It states that the Bible contains 1,239 prophecies in the Old Testament and 578 prophecies in the New Testament, for a total of 1,817. These prophecies encompass 8,352 verses. Since there are 31,124 total verses in the Bible, that would mean 27% of the Bible is prophecy (i.e., it speaks of things yet future from the reference point of the specific verse in question). The point is made - Biblical prophecy occupies a large portion of Scripture, so it must be important. So in choosing the greatest prophecy in the Bible, where do we begin? Is it found in the book of Revelation? What about Daniel? Ezekiel? Psalms? Isaiah? Matthew? The letters of the Apostle Paul? What about the topic itself? Is it the second coming of Christ? The coming of Antichrist? 666? Christ's birth? Tribulation period? Israel becoming a nation again? Cataclysmic signs in nature? This is where many people would begin. But I am going to submit to you what I believe is arguably the greatest prophecy in the Bible, and it's not found in any of the books mentioned above, neither is it in the topics just listed. What is it? Well, it's already happened. The greatest prophecy in the Bible is found in Genesis 3:15. It says, "And I (God) will put enmity between you (the Serpent, i.e., Satan) and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; HE (the Seed) SHALL BRUISE YOUR (Satan's) HEAD, AND YOU SHALL BRUISE HIS HEEL" . Another translation states the last phrase this way, "He shall CRUSH your head, and you shall STRIKE His heel" . This verse is considered to be the first Messianic prophecy in the Bible. Scholars use a technical term that denotes it as 'the first gospel'. It is the first promise of a coming Redeemer, proclaimed just after the Fall in the Garden of Eden. It is a prophecy in the Garden by God Himself that He would one day come into a fallen world as the 'Seed' and allow Himself to be nailed to a Cross as a sacrifice in order to save the world from its sin. The Seed, which we know from the Apostle Paul in Galatians 3:16, is Jesus Christ.
Immediately after the Fall of Adam and Eve in Genesis 3, God addressed all who were involved and handed out punishment. It was Satan who God spoke to first in verses 14 and 15, pronouncing a curse on him and then prophesying his destiny.

There are many misunderstandings, errors propogated, misquotes and criticism of the Bible. The below text is to put the context of the Prophecies about Jesus Christ in the Old Testament into perspective so the complexity and monumental task it would have been for Jesus to have fulfilled the Prophecies Himself. He could not control who is Mother and Father would be nor where he would be born. He had 3 1/2 years to fulfil all the below Old Testament scriptures written about the coming Messiah who would introduce Israel the Father God who loved them so mush that He had sent His Son to die on the cross for them once and for all. This meant no more sacrifices and no other religious practices that had been givem in the Old Testament for forgiveness of Sin. Man could be in Gods presence without dying.
Many will say that the scripture references in the Old Testament could be understood in different ways and not what we are saying it relates to in reality. If you read the chapters and/or book that the scriptures are extracted from you will understand the context and intention of the written word. There is no need for Christians to be persuaded that Jesus is the Son of God and that God exists and loves us. The complex written word woven into the Old Testament could only have been accomplished by a higher power, far for intelligent that us. The authors of the books did not know each other and lived in a time with no faxes, internet and photocopiers.
So I would like to submit to anyone reading this post that :-
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16,17
The Holy Bible was written by more than 40 human authors inspired by the Holy Spirit over a period of about 14 to 18 centuries. According to the above scripture the entire Bible was inspired by the Holy Spirit. The word “inspired” in Greek is theopneustos , which means “God-breathed.” The Apostle Peter wrote that holy men composed the books of the Bible as they were “moved” by the Holy Spirit. Also the Apostle Paul wrote to his student Timothy that all Scripture was given by inspiration of God. The authors of the Bible wrote spontaneously using their own minds and experiences while influenced and directed by God.
